ENPHO in collaboration with NNSS, Horticulture and other stakeholders conducted two days workshop on 16th and 17th December at Horticulture entitled, “Nutrient Recycling: Urine use for crop production" showing urine as a treasure.

Program was scheduled for two days’ detailed activities including key note presentation, documentary presentation, research presentation, experience sharing, panel discussion, field visit to different sites, group work and presentation, etc. Workshop was begun with a key note speech by Dr. Robert Holmer as he was the key resource person for the workshop. Followed by his presentation, other resource persons also shared their valuable ideas and experiences.

“We are facing problems because we are facing obligations. But we need to feel it as a ‘love for nature’ and the value of loving nature is priceless. We can face many challenges if we forgot the value of nature,” Said, Mr. Nawal Kishor Mishra, who was a pioneer of ecosan and urine application with 10 years experiences, during his presentation. Also, a documentary, “Asset Based Community Development (ABCD)” showed the importance of ecosan and wastes which was got very interesting.
During the session, Dr. Albert further highlighted some other aspects as well. “Biggest constraint about ecosan is public health concern. So, it will be implementing side by side with health and safety measure implication as well,” said, Dr. Albert during his presentation.
